Who or what is PSI?<\/i><\/b><p>PSI was chosen as the operator of the Arkansas Workforce Center at Little Rock.<\/p><p>PSI began as a consulting firm specializing in the child support enforcement program. As we grew, we added technology services to our offerings, since automation is a critical link to successful and efficient program administration<\/p><p>In 1991, PSI was awarded the nation&#39;s first contract to provide child support enforcement services in partnership with a state government agency. Today, PSI is the leading provider of child support enforcement services.<\/p><p>Our record of success has led to continued growth. We also provide an extensive range of outsourcing, technology, and consulting services to workforce development organizations, public health insurance agencies, Medicaid programs, hospitals, private health service providers, and justice system agencies.<\/p><p>In 2004, PSI was named as one of the top-20 fastest growing and largest private companies in Colorado by the Denver Business Journal. While our business has expanded, our mission to do socially useful work remains the same. tips[2]='<b><i>Is WIA the same as JTPA?<\/i><\/b><br /> Yes and No, JTPA also placed the emphasis on learning and earning, but not on job retention. It was realized that for a person to become self-sufficient that job retention was the key to their growth in a career. WIA provides for training as necessary, but the emphasis is on self sufficiency and utilization of personal skills to obtain employment.'
tips[3]='<b><i>What is WIA/ the Workforce Investment Act?<\/i><\/b><br />The Workforce Investment Act or as known by its short title WIA was first authorized in 1998 as a way to consolidate and eliminate redundant services offered through different workforce agencies. The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 was designed to help job seekers find work and employers find qualified workers.'
tips[4]='<b><i>Who qualifies for services?<\/i><\/b><br />All persons who are eligible to work in the United States.&nbsp; For the Arkansas Workforce Center at Little Rock our priority customers are those persons who live in the City of Little Rock and that are receiving public assistance, other low-income individuals and those individuals determined by assessment to require assistance to attain employment that will lead to self-sufficiency.'

Part 1<\/i><\/b><br />Services at the Arkansas Workforce Centers are broken into three broad areas: Core Services: Basic information on services, resume assistance, job referrals, resource room (including phone, fax, and copy machine use) orientation and partner agency referrals. Core services also include all services provided in follow-up after a customer has obtained employment.'

tips[11]='<b><i>How can I get money for school?<\/i><\/b><br />Individual Training Accounts are developed for a customer after a determination of need by a Career Counselor and after determining that training is the best course of action for the customer. Funds provided for training are "funds of last resource." Funds for training are provided after other school funds such as Pell Grants and Scholarships have been exhausted.'

tips[16]='<b><i>What does your youth program do?<\/i><\/b><br />We work with youth to obtain pre-employment skills training to prepare them for the workforce. When they are of age (16 years and older) we assist them with finding and retaining employment'
tips[17]='<b><i>Is the Youth Program just a summer program?<\/i><\/b><br />This is not just a summer program. This is a year-round program. Most services are offered during the summer months for youth that are still in school. We offer summer training, activities, and work experience in the summer and the youth&#39;s academic performance is monitored while they are in school. We also offer tutoring assistance, guidance and counseling and many other components during the school year.'
tips[18]='<b><i>What do I have to do to get my child into the Youth Program?<\/i><\/b><br />Sign in at the registration desk and obtain an application. Once the youth&#39;s application is complete a case manager will review it and make a recommendation for services. The Coordinator will determine their eligibility. If the youth is eligible for services you will be given an assessment package to complete within 30 days. If the youth is not eligible for services we will provide a referral to another agency that may be able to serve you.'
tips[19]='<b><i>What do I have to do to be eligible for the Youth Program?<\/i><\/b><br />In order to qualify for WIA youth enrollment you must be 14 to 21 years of age, low-income and have at least one barrier. The AWCLR Youth Program can only serve City of Little Rock residents. If you live outside of the City limits, we will be happy to refer you to the appropriate Workforce Center for the area in which you reside.'

tips[21]='<b><i>Does the Workforce Center find job for people?<\/i><\/b><br />Our largest partnering agency the Arkansas Employment Security Department (ESD) provides the job counseling and referrals, we also provide you with the means to conduct your own job search, such as Internet usage, telephones, and "fax" machines. Staff members are available to assist you.'

There are also books and pamphlets with tips and suggestions for creating the right resume&#39; for you. Knowledgeable staff members are available if you need assistance.'
tips[23]='<b><i>Can I check out books and software?<\/i><\/b><br />The resource room at the Center contains a wealth of publications, videos, pamphlets, etc. that are available to the public resource. The resource specialist can tell you which items you can have and which publications and videos must remain in the resource room.'
tips[24]='<b><i>Does the Workforce Center offer adult GED classes?<\/i><\/b><br />GED classes are offered by one of our partner programs, Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy (WAGE) Adult Education.'
tips[25]='<b><i>What is the role of the Partners?<\/i><\/b><br />The One-Stop concept is a partnership of many entities responsible for administering separate workforce investment, educational, and other human resource programs. All partners are required to make their services available at the One-Stop Center.'
tips[26]='<b><i>Can I take computer classes there at the Workforce Center?<\/i><\/b><br />Offered through the WAGE program, the center offers tutorial software on numerous computer applications. These are easy to use and you can learn at your own pace.'
tips[27]='<b><i>Does the Workforce Center offer job training?<\/i><\/b><br />Training services are available to employed and unemployed adults and dislocated workers who meet eligibility for training services and are unable to obtain assistance from other sources to pay the cost of training. .'
tips[28]='<b><i>Does the One-Stop pay for child-care and transportation?<\/i><\/b><br />Support Services for adults and dislocated workers may include child -care and transportation to enable an individual to participate in WIA Title I activities. Information regarding support services is available at the One-Stop as well as information on other programs that may offer such services.'
